Speedlite EL-5: Pro Flash From Canon Revealed

The Canon Speedlite EL-5 has been revealed and features an advertised recharge time of just 0.1 – 1.2 seconds. It claims a lot of features but what exactly do you get? Full details below!

Specifications

The Canon Speedlite EL-5 can provide up to 350 full-power flashes on a single charge or 85 long-continuous full-power flashes. The recharge time is advertised at a surprisingly snappy speed of 0.1 – 1.2 seconds. Wireless controls allow use with up to 15 additional Speedlites and a Camera Link function allowing external cameras to be triggered. Manual settings allow greater control for the user and allow the flash to be set as low as 1/1024th power. Gold-plated contacts are used which are stated to improve and ensure a reliable connection, and dust and water-resistant seals add to the overall durability. An ‘efficient passive cooling system’ has been built in by Canon to improve heat dissipation during use.
