Sony α6400 Firmware Update Enables Real-Time Eye AF for Animals

Sony has announced the release of a new firmware upgrade for the popular α6400 E-mount compact mirrorless camera, which will facilitate real-time Eye AF for animals.

This new mode uses Sony’s latest algorithm which includes AI [Artificial Intelligence] based object recognition and processes colour, subject distance [depth], pattern [brightness] as spatial data to assure that subjects can be shot with great accuracy.

Also, when shooting humans with the α6400, face and eye position information is recognised by AI and the subjects eye is monitored in real time with remarkably high tracking accuracy. This can be initiated by a half press of the shutter, or can also be assigned to a custom function if prefered.
