Canon has announced the latest addition to their Powershot G range of Cameras, the Powershot G1 X Mark III, naming it as the best ever Powershot G camera – ever

The new camera, which [naturally supercedes the Powershot G1 X Mark II] hosts an ASP-C sensor and Canon’s premium DIGIPIC 7 processor, along with a 3x optical lens,  promises imaging quality of Canon’s EOS DSLR cameras with the handling and versatility of a much more compact camera, weighing just 399 grams.

Perfectly suited for the enthusiast photographer, the new G1 X Mark IIIs sensor is similar to that which can be found in the EOS 80D, and boasts the ability to shoot in an ISO range of between 100-25,600.

The built in 3x zoom lens boasts a focal range of 24-72mm [equivalent 35mm] and a close focusing range of just 10cm; so ideal for macro photography as well as a host of other shooting scenarios.

The G1 X Mark III also boasts the first Dual Pixel CMOS AF in a compact Canon camera, which promises to deliver pin sharp focusing in just 0.09 seconds. Coupled with 4 stop image stabilisation, it should install confidence when shooting in low light and active scenes, such as carnivals or sports.

Video Mode

The PowerShot G1 X Mark III will capture video in full HD 60p in MP4, delivered with 5-axis Advanced Dynamic Is and Dual Pixel CMOS AF, [The Dynamic Is function corrects and steadies film footage and the Dual Pixel CMOS AF gives the shooter the ability to create cinematic ‘focus pulls’. You’ll also find the familiar time-lapse mode along with a panoramic mode, which promises simple horizontal or vertical panoramic shots with the simple push of a button.

Connectivity

Complete with Wi-Fi and NFC capabilities, with which you can take full manual control and live preview of an image on your mobile device, the PowerShot G1 X Mark III also features a number of smart Bluetooth functions.

All of this positions the G1 X Mark III as a serious camera for enthusiasts, B-cameras for professional users and will also make for an excellent travel companion with its small and light form factor, coupled with it’s outstanding imaging capabilities.

Pricing and availability

The PowerShot G1 X Mark III will be available to buy from November 2017 and will carry a price tag of around £1149
