Canon’s New Portrait Lens: The RF 135mm F1.8L IS USM
Canon has unveiled its new lens offering targeted towards portrait photographers out there. With a 135mm focal length, image stabilisation, and max aperture of f/1.8 it promises to be ideal for low-light photography. Read on below to get the details!
Specifications
Canon has really designed this lens with bokeh [background blur] in mind. The 135mm focal length coupled with a 1.8 aperture should already provide ample separation and background blur, and the addition of a 9-bladed aperture should in theory produce smooth out-of-focus areas. The built-in image stabilisation claims to provide up to 5.5 stops of compensation, and Canon’s added ASC and Super Spectra Coating lens coatings are advertised as providing even more accurate colour rendition and aberration reduction. A further fluorine-based coating according to Canon helps to keep the lens free of dirt. Thought has been put into the durability with the provision of dust and water-resistant seals around the mount itself.
