DJI Mavic 3 Classic: Mavic 3 At An Accessible Price

DJI has announced an update to their best-selling Mavic 3 series camera drone, the Mavic 3 Classic. The Classic model packs many of the same features as the original Mavic 3 but at a lower retail price. So what value are you getting for your money and what differences are there? Read on to find out.

Specifications

The Mavic 3 Classic features the same camera as the original Mavic 3 with a 20 megapixel 4/3 CMOS sensor but without an additional telephoto lens. The transmission system is the same, and the flight time is advertised as 46 minutes [40 minutes hover time]. Video recording boasts 4k capability at 60fps and even 5.1k is possible at 50fps. Aperture stops are rated from f/2.8 to f/11 with RAW photo output available.

  • 20 megapixel 4/3 CMOS sensor
  • f/2.8 to f/11 aperture range
  • RAW and D-Log output options
  • 4K 60fps recording [also 5.1K at 50fps]
  • Slow motion mode [4K 120fps and 1080p 200fps]
  • 46 minutes flight time [40 minute hover time]
  • Transmission distance up to 9.3 miles [based on 1080p 60fps within pilot’s line of sight]
  • Cruise control option for constant flight speed

Safety Features

A total of 8 sensors in different directions help keep the drone aware of its surroundings and any possible obstacles, in addition to an AirSense ADS-B receiver which keeps the pilot informed of any nearby planes or helicopters emitting ADS-B signals. A return to home system can scan the local area from up to 200 meters away and plot the best way back to its launch point. For extra security, the drone does not need to be connected to the internet within flight and transmission systems are encrypted for video signals and flight controls.
