Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: S-Pen Equipped Android Flagship Revealed

Consumer electronics mammoths, Samsung Electronics, has revealed a host of what they’re labelling ‘revolutionary new devices’ at its annual Unpacked event, including the Galaxy S22 Series and Galaxy Tab S8 Series. Read on for details of the flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The new devices promise a great deal for creatives, with a slew of features and functions that should appeal for a range of applications for storyboarding, design film and photo shooting/editing, as well as high-quality screens, which offer brightness that makes them useful as teleprompters.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra sits at the top of the pile, with a pro-grade camera, overall performance, and connectivity ever to appear in a Galaxy smartphone, ‘reimagining’ the mobile experience by combining the best features from the Galaxy Note and S series into a single device. For the first time, the Samsung S Pen that’s familiar with Samsung Note users is coming to this S series device. It’s a quick and responsive S Pen that Samsung has ever made and with 70% lower latency, the control on Galaxy S22 Ultra’s large screen promises to deliver an experience for image editing, gaming and designing that hasn’t been seen before.

The new Galaxy S22 Ultra Features a built-in S Pen, advanced ‘Nightography’ feature and video credentials, with a battery life that promises to last for more than a day. Quite simply, it’s the most powerful Ultra device Samsung has ever made to date.

Photo & Video Features

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is built for image capture and sharing on the move and in any lighting conditions. An interesting development in the device is what Samsung is calling ‘Advanced Nightography’ features. These are available on the full Galaxy S22 range of devices and promise to deliver crisp, clear videos on both the front and back cameras.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 2.4um pixel sensor, the largest in any of Samsung’s devices, ever, along with an advanced ‘Super Clear Glass’ lens that helps to make smoother and clearer night-time videos with the promise of zero flares.

Up Close & Personal

The zoom capabilities in the new S22 Ultra give the chance to get a whopping 100x closer to your subject action and, packed with all-new AI-supported features including Portrait mode, the smartphone is designed to help to make more professional-looking images with greater ease. With its intelligent camera features, the phone steps in to do most of the heavy lifting, so you easily shoot great photos and video in most lighting conditions.

Pro Features

Whether shooting as an amateur or a pro photographer, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra offers users a deeper level of control for image capture. Just like the Galaxy S22 and S22+, the Galaxy S22 Ultra gives access to the ‘Expert RAW’ app, which features an exhaustive range of in-camera editing tools that give a near-DSLR or Mirrorless camera experience with greater creative control. Saving images in RAW format up to 16bit, there’s a lot more ability to edit to a much greater level than with regular Jpegs [etc]. Control your ISO settings and shutter speed, adjust the white balance, and manually focus on your subject. It’s all here.
