Samsung has revealed the all-new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4, promising to change the way we interact with Smartphones. Read on for the full skinny.

Samsung has been pushing the boundaries of smartphone design and the new devices arrive as the fourth-generation foldable smartphones from the brand.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 both promise to deliver enhanced productivity, customisation capabilities, and FlexCam experiences for users everywhere; evolving the way we view and operate our essential personal electronic devices. Each and every component in both of the new devices has been analysed to deliver an optimised experience and with the intention of making sure that every user has a device to fit their needs.

Conor Pierce, Corporate Vice President of Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said: “Samsung Galaxy foldables are built on the foundation of our openness philosophy, enabling new possibilities with complete customisation both inside and out. Created in collaboration with our world-class partners, the next foldable devices offer unparalleled mobile experiences that meet the needs of our most dynamic users. With our all-new Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 devices, we’ve pushed the limits of what’s possible with two radically different smartphone experiences that allow people to express their individuality – because there’s no one-size-fits-all for foldables anymore. With this launch, we’ve successfully transformed this category from a radical project to a mainstream device lineup enjoyed by millions worldwide.”

The Galaxy Z Flip4 builds on the lineage of its predecessors, adding new, key features, including an improved camera experience, a larger battery and expanded customisation, while maintaining its super-compact design. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is being launched as the device that will deliver Samsung’s most comprehensive smartphone experience to date. Its shape-shifting design, immersive displays and PC-like multitasking features, are joined by advanced camera tech and powerful mobile processing power.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 promises to bolster the favourite features of users of the previous models, allowing them to shoot hands-free video or shoot complete group selfies at different angles by partially folding the device, activating FlexCam. Due to Samsung’s partnership with Meta, the FlexCam function works with some of the most popular social platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. You can also shoot selfies from the Cover Screen by leveraging the main camera with the upgraded Quick Shot. You can now also take selfies in Portrait Mode.

Users can start video recording in Quick Shot mode and then switch to the Flex mode to continue recording hands-free without stopping the
video. It’s a great feature for content creators and vloggers, for example. The upgraded camera is loaded with a 65% brighter sensor, which is powered by the Snapdragon® 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform. Photos and videos are crisper and more stable, allegedly whether shot in the day or at night.

The Galaxy Z Fold4 is the latest result of Samsung Galaxy’s smartphone innovation and the most powerful smartphone to date. The Z Fold4 blends Samsung’s collective mobile tech to make a new device with increased functionality whether opened, closed, or in Flex mode. It’s the first Samsung mobile device to ship with Android 12L, a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen experiences, including foldable phones.

Multitasking on the Z Fold4 is said to be easier than ever. The new Taskbar delivers a layout similar to a PC, giving easy access to apps. Multitasking should also be more intuitive, thanks to the new native swipe gestures. Users can quickly switch full-screen apps to pop-up windows or split the screen in half for additional ways to multitask.

Samsung’s partnerships with Google and Microsoft promise to supercharge multitasking. Google apps, including Chrome and Gmail now support drag-and-drop, allowing users to quickly copy and paste links, photos and more from one app to another. With Google Meet, users can now connect with more people
while enjoying virtual co-activities, including co-watching videos on YouTube or playing games together on a video call. Microsoft’s full Office suite and Outlook take advantage of the foldable display, supplying more information on the screen and faster ways to interact with the content.

The Galaxy Z Fold4 promises to create incredible photos and videos with its upgraded 50MP wide lens and 30x Space Zoom lens. A variety of camera modes, including the larger Zoom map activated on Capture View Mode, Dual Preview, and Rear Cam Selfie are custom-built to take advantage of the device’s form factor for improved shooting flexibility. With its larger pixel size, a 23 percent brighter sensor and enhanced processing power, users can shoot clear images even in low light, apparently.

Content is delivered in a more immersive manner on the device’s 7.6-inch Main Screen, with a brighter screen, a
120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a less visible Under Display Camera [UDC] featuring a new scatter-type
sub-pixel arrangement.

Popular social media apps like Facebook are optimised for the large-screen experience to make content more enjoyable. Or open your favourite streaming entertainment service apps and view hands-free with Flex mode. For non-optimised apps, users can control the device without disrupting the content with the new Flex Mode Touchpad, offering accuracy while pausing, rewinding, and playing videos, or zooming in and out of content while the device is in Flex mode.
