Call for Entries: Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2018

From 1st March, pro, as well as up-and-coming photographers can submit entries to the prestigious photographic competition staged by Leica Camera AG

The international photographic competition hosted by Leica Camera AG has entered its next round. Between 1st March to 5th April 2018, photographers [up to 25 years old] will be able to submit entries for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award online.

The competition calls for the submission of self-contained series of between 10 and a [maximum of] 12 images in which the photographers perceive and document the interaction between man and their environment in creative and groundbreaking style. Eligible for submission are series of photographs captured in 2017 and 2018 or work from long-term projects including at least one photograph made in this period.

Entry forms and the terms and conditions of entry will be available from the competition website at from 1st
March 2018.

The awards for the winners in both categories of the 38th Leica Oskar Barnack Award will be presented in the course of a formal prizegiving ceremony in Berlin. With prizes amounting to a total cash value of 80,000 euros, the Leica Oskar Barnack Award is one of the industry’s most prestigious photographic competitions.

The winner in the main category will receive a cash prize of 25,000 [euros] and Leica M-System [camera and lens] valued at an additional 10,000 [euros].

The winner of the Newcomer Award will receive a cash prize of 10,000 [euros] and will also receive a Leica rangefinder
camera and lens.

In addition to the two main categories, ten further submissions to the competition will each receive prizes of 2,500 [euros].

The portfolios entered by all finalists will be shown on the website and in the magazine published specially for the competition
