Just in time for the 2018 Winter Olympics, Leica has announced a new version of its full -frame compact camera, the Leica Q ‘Snow’
The new and limited edition Leica Q ‘Snow’ has been produced in collaboration with the Swiss World Champion and Olympic gold medallist snowboarder [halfpipe] and dedicated Leica photographer, Iouri Podladtchikov, whose ideas and input inspired the design of the camera.
Iouri Podladtchikov, who has published two books of his photography and will soon be opening his own studio, based the design concept of the Leica Q ‘Snow’ on the coloured version of the Leica Q and has a silver anodised top layer, baseplate and controls on the top deck in silver and highlights a new accessory shoe cover that’s made from alloy.
This new edition from Leica is limited in production to just 300 pieces globally, each bearing a unique serial number.
Iouri Podladtchikov told PhotoBite: “As a brand ambassador, it’s a fascinating feeling to have inspired a special edition of a camera, but I also see it as an enormous responsibility” He added: “White, for me, means ‘carte blanche’; it’s up to you. It’s time to get creative”.
